
The Automotive Maintenance and Vehicle Inspection Courses will teach you all aspects of motor vehicle repair and maintenance.
You will begin with the basic Health and Safety practices associated with workshop tools and equipment. Following this, you will be introduced to the skills required to undertake vehicle repairs, which are tailored towards potential career paths within this industry.
You will learn the principles of motor vehicle engine construction, including cooling and lubrication systems, transmission systems (gearbox), and the fundamentals of vehicle electrical and electronic systems (lights, charging, starting systems).
You will learn how to carry out routine inspections of braking systems, wheel and tyre checks and also gain an understanding of the different types of transport vehicles and how they are constructed.
The course covers future technologies such as low carbon and electric vehicles. You will also learn washing and cleaning skills, and how to prepare a motor vehicle for resale.

Mikey is our Mechanics tutor. He has previously worked as a Mechanics tutor for an independent training provider, and for an FE College. He has been in the motor vehicle industry for more than 25 years, and describes himself as a self-starter, who has excellent communication skills and a keen commitment of working with people from diverse backgrounds.
