Health and Social Care

About This Course

The Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings course is designed to teach students the development of humans from early to elder years.

This units of this course teach students to develop a broad range of skills such as:

  • Development of babies children – covering birth and pregnancy,
  • Childhood and Adulthood Development – healthy lifestyles and safeguarding,
  • Caring for the elderly – including living with Dementia

The course is theory based, but practical tasks have been introduced to make it as hands on and practical as possible. Students will use realistic dolls to dress and learn how to deliver personal care. They will learn how to make up baby bottles for safely feeding a new born, and they will learn techniques to support dementia patients.

The assessments of the course are in the form of creative displays, rather than lots of essay writing.

This course can set students up for further Level 2 study in Health and Social Care or apprenticeships in the industry. It is designed to introduce students to careers in Childcare, Paramedics, Nursing, Caring, Midwifery and other Healthcare.
