Richard Branson’s latest post has sparked up some inspiration for a blog post. Richard states that without being dyslexic he feels he would not be where he is today. Where he is today is one of the most successful businessmen in the world!
St Edmunds Society completely agrees with his testament, discussing young people that ‘we should be nurturing their talents and encouraging them to chase their dreams’. Despite being dyslexic it does not mean that that person is any different in terms of aspirations, dreams or ability. What one person may lack they make up for in other aspects of their abilities or personalities.
Being dyslexic does not mean you are not smart or intelligent, in fact it is estimated that 1 in 20 people in the UK have dyslexia and have a normal, well-balanced lifestyle. It may be a lifelong problem that challenges that person, especially in elements of reading and writing, but with a little extra support a young person with dyslexia can still thrive as much as somebody without.
There are many well-known celebrities with dyslexia too:
· Whoopi Goldberg
· Steven Spielberg
· Cher
· Keira Knightley
· Jamie Oliver
These celebrities lead a pretty magnificent life and have had successful careers. Read more about their success stories here.
