St-Eds are delighted for Sophie Tomkins, 18, who won a Commendation at the final of the Youthbuild Young Builder of the Year Awards 2016 at Parliament.
The Awards are to celebrate the achievements of young people who, despite having to overcome personal barriers, have succeeded in training for and/or becoming employed in the construction industry.
Sophie has successfully completed the St-Eds study programme in construction after a coming to St-Eds at school age, having struggled to achieve in mainstream education.
Sophie and her parents were congratulated by Norwich South MP Clive Lewis on the House of Commons Terrace.
St-Eds CEO, Lorraine Bliss, said:
“I’m delighted that Sophie’s achievements have been recognised and it just goes to show that you can achieve your goals in your life despite not getting on in mainstream education.”
