Our first ever Student Council meeting was in top form this morning as both STUK and school students were involved in making our training centre a better place. We have created a Student Council to give our students a voice. These three students will be making positive changes on behalf of all students at St Edmunds Society to improve the environment and atmosphere for all.
Co-ordinated by our Welfare Support Officer, Nicky Wright, the council will have monthly meetings with a member of the Management team and support all students and their wishes. Some of the queries from students were items such as:
- Having own ID badges for students
- A change in menu – the students have thought of having culture days to try foods of different origin than their own
- Having tea and coffee making facilities in the Salon once we open our doors to the public
All suggestions were brilliant from the staff and students and we look forward to meeting the needs of many other young people.
