Jamie Weatherhead has worked at the Department for Education since 2008, during which time he has worked as a Policy Advisor across a range of policy relating to schools and colleges. Between 2010-11 he was a Private Secretary to Lord Hill, Minister for School. However, since 2011, Jamie’s work has included policy on teacher pay, teacher quality, behaviour, attendance, PSHE, character, alternative provision and exclusions. In 2015/16 Jamie led the review of alternative provision and authored the sections of the 2016 White Paper relating to alternative provision and character. Since January, Jamie has been Head of Delivery for the Opportunity Areas in Norwich, Fenland and East Cambridgeshire and Ipswich.
This is a very interesting opportunity to hear from someone who works on the frontline of forming the sector that we all work in and to hear directly about the implementation of policy that often feels such an inaccessible issue for those it affects most.
